How this site handles data

Privacy

A plain-English summary of what this website does — and does not do — with information about you.

The short version

Highland Stays does not ask you to create an account, does not sell anything, and does not run advertising trackers. You can read every page without giving us any personal information.

Checklist ticks

When you tick a step on the homepage checklist, the tick is saved in your own browser's local storage so that it is still there when you come back. It is never sent to our server, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our web server keeps short-term technical logs — such as the page requested, the time, the browser type and the IP address — to keep the site running and secure. These logs are not used to build profiles of visitors and are deleted on a rolling basis.

Fonts

The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests the fonts, Google receives your IP address as part of that request, as it would for any web resource. Google's own privacy policy applies to that service.

The contact form

The contact form does not store or forward what you type. If you email us, we use your email only to reply and delete correspondence when it is no longer needed.

Search

Searches are processed on our server to show results and are not stored against you.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to other websites, such as venue or heritage sites. Their privacy practices are their own; please read their policies.

Changes

If the way the site handles data changes, this page will be updated. Last reviewed: October 2026.
